Chat, groups and calls

Write to the people you follow, create groups with clear rules, and call by voice or video.

Start a chat#

  • Chat tab → New chat, or Message on someone's profile.
  • The links menu at the top gives you a Link to chat with me (whoever opens it starts a chat with you) and invite links to groups you manage.
  • Tabs: Chat, Bloop (conversations with stores), Group and Archived. Swipe a chat to archive or delete it; you can also pin and mute chats.

In a conversation#

  • 📎 Attach: photos and videos (with caption, edit and draw), camera, documents.
  • Voice messages: hold the microphone to record, slide to cancel.
  • Long-press a message: react (👍 ❤️ 😂 😮 😢 🙏 or any emoji), Reply (or swipe), Forward to up to 5 chats, Copy, Edit your own messages, Star, Pin, Delete for me or for everyone.
  • You see when the other person is typing, and the red double tick when they have read (if read receipts are on for both).
  • Tap the name at the top for chat info: calls, media, links and docs, starred messages, mute, wallpaper, Disappearing messages (off, 24 hours, 7 days, 90 days) and Lock chat (it then opens only with your PIN or Face ID).

Groups#

  1. Group tab → Create group, choose members, a name and an optional description.
  2. Owner and admins use Manage group: icon, name and description, Share invite link or create a new one (the old one stops working), add members, make or remove admins, remove members.

What members can do (set by admins): send messages (off = only admins write), send photos, videos and files, voice messages, links, add members, pin messages, change the group info, and slow mode. For a single member admins can mute (for a time or forever), allow text only, or ban (they can't come back, not even with the link).

To join a group, open its invite link and tap Join group. To leave, use Exit group; the owner can Delete group.

Calls#

Use the phone or camera icon at the top of a chat. During the call: mute, camera on/off, flip, speaker, end. Incoming calls ring with Answer / Decline; missed calls appear in the chat. For meetings with many people see Linework Meet.
